BY Draconis variables

The BY Draconis variables are K- and M-type dwarfs that are magnetically active. This leads to spots or other magnetic features that rotate in and out of view, leading to brightness variations as the star rotates.

Many BY Draconis variables show bright flares, like UV Ceti variables, and are jointly classified as BY Dra/UV Cet variables.
